Percy Jackson: The Lightning Thief Chapter 1

I Accidentally Vaporize My Pre-algebra Teacher

         Percy Jackson gets into trouble during a field trip. He pushes Nancy (the school bully), into a fountain at the Yancy Academy field trip. She then accidentally drops her lunch into Grover's lap and Percy and Nancy get into a fight. Mrs. Dodd's stops the fight by pulling Percy into the Roman and Greek center where she then turns into a bird-like monster whom has glowing eyes, wings, and long talons. She tries to kill Percy but Mr. Brunner tosses a pen, that turns into a golden sword to Percy, which Mr. Brunner uses at class when he dresses up. Percy cuts Ms. Dodd's with it right on the shoulder and she turns into yellow powder.

It wasn't really that surprising that Percy and Nancy got into a fight, but I was quite surprised about Mrs. Dodd's "other form". I also thought that the pen/sword is an amazing weapon and wish I had one of those myself for just an occasion. I think it was a good chapter all in all, I would probably use a list to categorize the events that happened in this chapter. A list would also be more beneficial for remembering the important key terms and would be faster to study when you are on the go. 

This is such a fascinating book, I would recommend it for all readers to give the Percy Jackson series a chance to be read. The book is again about, twelve-year-old Percy Jackson as he discovers that he is a demigod, the son of an immortal Greek god, Poseidon and the son of an average mortal woman. Percy and his friends set out on an adventure to prevent a war between the Greek gods Zeus, Poseidon and Hades.
